St. Thomas scored two goals within 10 seconds in the decisive third period to knock Wisconsin-Stout out of the NCAA Division III men's hockey tournament with a 4-1 victory Wednesday in Mendota Heights.

With the score tied at 1-1 after two periods, the Tommies (20-6-2) attacked Blue Devil goalie Mike Stone, a senior from West St. Paul. St. Thomas outshot Stout 12-4 over the first 10 minutes of the final period and scored a power-play goal at the 10-minute mark by Nate Ryan. Ten seconds later the Tommies took a two-goal lead on a goal by Sean Bryant.

Nick Nelson scored an empty-net goal in the final minute to seal the victory for the Tommies.

St. Thomas outshot Stout 35-28 for the game, but Stout held a 23-17 lead in shots after two periods. St. Thomas will travel to St. Norbert in Green Bay to play the top- seeded Green Knights on Saturday.
