TAMPA, FLA. - The New York Yankees had most of their heavy hitters in the lineup. They used two of the pitchers who were considered untouchables during the Johan Santana trade discussions.
But after falling into a three-run hole early on national television, the Twins got big hits from Garrett Jones, Alexi Casilla and Alejandro Machado, rallying for a 7-5 victory at Legends Field.
Ian Kennedy and Joba Chamberlain -- two pitchers the Yankees refused to include in the Santana talks -- each gave up a home run. Delmon Young homered off Kennedy, and Jones hit a two-run homer off Chamberlain.
After Casilla tied the score 4-4 with an RBI single in the seventh inning, Machado hit a two-run double off Jonathan Albaladejo, giving the Twins the lead.
Twins starter Kevin Slowey gave up three runs in two innings, but Randy Keisler turned in two scoreless innings of relief, and Pat Neshek retired all three batters he faced.
