Jerry Zgoda missed the entire Kevin Garnett era, but he's back covering the Timberwolves after working the beat for their first four seasons two decades ago. In between, he covered a bit of everything: Gopher men's and women's basketball and NCAA athletics, golf, outdoor recreation, sports media and a little Vikings and Twins.

Another Wolves possibility gone: Celtics acquire Courtney Lee, reports say

If you're part of Wolves Nation impatiently waiting for your team to add an impact player on the wing...

Well, you can cross unrestricted free agent Courtney Lee off your list.

The guy who quite possibly was the Wolves' Plan B after Portland matched Nicolas Batum's offer sheet is headed to Boston, not Minnesota.

Yahoo!Sports and the Boston Herald report this afternoon that the Celtics have swung a sign-and-trade with Houston to acquire Lee while giving up JaJuan Johnson, E'Twaun Moore, Sean Williams and a second-round pick  in return.

Lee is a 6-5 swingman who played for Rick Adelman in Houston and you can bet Adelman pushed to sign him.

The Wolves now could turn their attention to another shooting guard -- Chicago unrestricted free agent Ronnie Brewer, for example -- or use their remaining cap space to sign big guys Jordan Hill and Greg Stiemsma as well as completing agreements they've already made with Brandon Roy and Alexey Shved.

They could also target a small forward or shooting guard -- Andre Iguodala, Rudy Gay, Luol Deng, Danny Granger, Wilson Chandler anyone? --  in trade, but are limited in the assets they have to offer and the ability and/or willingness to take back contracts as big as Iguodala's $15 million salary or Deng's $11 million.
