JOTTINGS

• Josh Willingham is leading the American League in both batting average, at .444, and home runs with four. He and Denard Span are tied for fifth in the league with 12 hits.

• The Twins are batting .314 on their homestand, but you can't win games when you leave 15 players on base like they did on Saturday. The Twins lead the league in hitting into double plays with 11.

• The Twins have yet to be favored in a game this season by the Glantz-Culver line out of Las Vegas. They were underdogs for all three road games in Baltimore and have remained underdogs for every game in this homestand against the Angels and Rangers, two American League favorites. With upcoming series against the Yankees, Tampa Bay Rays and Red Sox, there's a good possibility that the Twins won't be favored in a game this season until they face Kansas City at home on April 27.

• Dave Lee, the lead broadcaster on the WCCO morning radio show, was awarded the Edward R. Murrow Award for his great job in reporting the Harmon Killebrew obituary. Murrow was a legendary CBS broadcaster who became famous for reporting on the Blitz in London during World War II.

• ESPN college basketball reporter Andy Katz released his revised Top 25 rankings for next season and the Gophers placed at 24th. Katz wrote: "The Gophers got tremendous news when Trevor Mbakwe was deemed eligible for a sixth year and then agreed to come back. Led by the much-improved Rodney Williams, Minnesota played reasonably well and reached the NIT final without the injured Mbakwe. If they have him healthy for a full season -- with their top five scorers back and nearly the entire bench -- there is no reason why the Gophers can't be a contender for a top-four finish in the Big Ten."
