Phil Miller covered three seasons of Twins baseball, but that was at a different ballpark for a different newspaper. Now Miller returns to the baseball beat after joining the Star Tribune as the Gopher football writer in 2010, and he won't miss the dingy dome for a minute. In addition to the Twins and Gophers, Miller covered the Utah Jazz and the NBA for six years at The Salt Lake Tribune.

Twins face Peavy, hoping to avoid another sweep

CHICAGO -- I’ll check back soon with the lineups and other pregame tidbits.

For now, today's series finale is a blank canvas. Share your predictions below.

Update: Manager Ron Gardenhire has been looking for a spot to give Ben Revere a breather. Revere is getting one today, and with an off day Thursday, that will give him a two-day break heading into the weekend series in Anaheim.

Tsuyoshi Nishioka has general soreness, Gardenhire said, after sitting out a while and then playing back-to-back games. Nishioka is available off the bench.

Michael Cuddyer's left wrist only bothers him on hard throws to first base, so he's in right field, with Joe Mauer at first.

Trainer Rick McWane said it's possible Justin Morneau would be able to play Friday, but once a player is diagnosed with concussion symptoms, everything must be cleared by Major League Baseball.

Teams can expand their active rosters Thursday, and Gardenhire said there's a good chance the Twins will be adding a pitcher for the Angels series, likely Jim Hoey. Gardenhire said Class AA New Britain pitcher Deolis Guerra was also a possibility, but Guerra came down with forearm soreness Wednesday. (How fitting is that?)
