Bela Karolyi buys 40 acres of land in the Sam Houston National Forest near Houston, Texas.
A gym and cabins are built, and the ranch begins hosting summer gymnastics camps.
The ranch grows to 2,000 acres.
Bela Karolyi, the U.S. national women's team coordinator, begins holding monthly camps at the ranch for members of the national team.
The semi-centralized training system is instituted, and the ranch is named the U.S. women's national team training center.
A dance studio, two more gyms, additional housing and a lodge are added.
The U.S. Olympic Committee designates the ranch as a U.S. Olympic training site.
