Burns goes back to forward for one game

Last update: December 16, 2007 - 11:37 PM

Because Derek Boogaard had a back injury and Matt Foy and Branko Radivojevic were sick, defenseman Brent Burns had to play wing on Saturday night.

Burns, who has bounced back and forth over his career, helped shut down Los Angeles' top line with linemates Dominic Moore and Stephane Veilleux.

While it's valuable to have a player with such versatility, coach Jacques Lemaire said Burns will undoubtedly return to the blue line.

"He's a tremendous talent," teammate Brian Rolston said of Burns, 22. "The organization's lucky to have him. All he does is work hard and wants to learn. He's worth his weight in gold."
