All eyes in Nebraska now look toward Tom Osborne's office -- to see if Bill Callahan can emerge from his upcoming meeting with Nebraska's athletic director with his job.
If he does, it would be a bigger shock than what Nebraska fans have seen this season.
The latest embarrassment happened Friday when Cody Hawkins threw for 241 yards and Hugh Charles ran for 169 and three scores to lift Colorado over Nebraska 65-51. Colorado scored 34 consecutive points in the second half to take control of the game.
Nebraska has the Big 12's worst defense and only its second losing record since 1962, both of which have come during Callahan's four seasons in Lincoln.
Texas A&M 38, Texas 30: Coach Dennis Franchione led Texas A&M to a victory over rival Texas, then resigned after the game. Stephen McGee threw for a career-high 362 yards with three touchdowns for the Aggies (7-5, 4-4 Big 12).
For Franchione, his satisfaction will have to come from beating Texas twice. There have been no Big 12 titles, and his 32-28 record over the past five seasons is far from what was expected when he took over.
Mississippi St. 17, Mississippi 14: Mississippi State scored 17 consecutive points in the fourth quarter, capped by Adam Carlson's 48-yard field goal with 18 seconds left, to prevail and probably lock up the school's first bowl bid since 2000. The longest field goal of Carlson's career finished a rally that tied the school record for largest fourth-quarter comeback.
Hawaii 39, No. 17 Boise State 27: Hawaii's Colt Brennan threw five touchdowns to break the major college career record as the No. 14 Warriors beat the No. 17 Broncos to win their first outright Western Athletic Conference title. Brennan finished 40-of-53 for 495 yards for the Warriors (11-0, 8-0), who set a school record with 12 consecutive victories and denied the Broncos (10-2, 7-1) a sixth conference championship in a row.
