The Swarm, and the rest of the National Lacrosse League, made trades the tale of the amateur draft Saturday in New York.

After several trades, the Swarm wound up with its No. 1 acquisition being Craig Point. Point was acquired when Minnesota traded the eighth and 11th overall draft picks, Brock Boyle and its third-round pick in 2008 to Boston.

Point was the third overall pick in the 2007 draft and led the Iroquois Nationals in scoring at the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships in May.

The Swarm had acquired the 11th overall pick and also the 51st by sending Kasey Beirnes to Toronto.

The Swarm also drafted and then traded Brandon Swamp to Buffalo for a 2008 first-round pick. Minnesota also sent Spencer Martin and Michael Kilby to Portland in exchange for the 23rd overall selection this year and a conditional first-round selection in 2008.

Only one first-round pick didn't involve a trade.
