• In a development away from the trial, the Minnesota Supreme Court denied DFLer Al Franken's bid to get an election certificate so he can be provisionally seated in the Senate while Republican Norm Coleman's legal challenges play out.

• At the trial, both sides presented arguments on Franken's motion to dismiss Coleman's case, in which he is challenging the recount results showing Franken with a 225-vote lead. The presiding three-judge panel did not indicate when it would issue a ruling.
