Cyclones KO Kansas again

– Naz Long scored 20 points, and 11th-ranked Iowa State held off No. 9 Kansas 86-81 on Saturday night, recording back-to-back victories over the Jayhawks for the first time in 14 years.

Georges Niang had 15 points for the Cyclones (13-3, 3-1 Big 12), who shot 9-for-20 on three-pointers in halting Kansas' five-game winning streak.

Five points by Long gave Iowa State a 71-57 lead with 6:26 left. Kansas pulled to 82-79 with 29 seconds to go, but Niang sealed the win by drawing a charge with 14 seconds left.

Frank Mason III scored 21 points for Kansas (14-3, 3-1), the last team in the Big 12 to lose a conference game.

HIGHLIGHTS

•NO SWEAT FOR NO. 1: Devin Booker scored 13 points and top-ranked Kentucky (17-0, 4-0) coasted to another lopsided Southeastern Conference victory, 70-48 over Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

• DUKE DOMINATES: Jahlil Okafor scored 14 of his 18 points in the second half, and No. 4 Duke dominated No. 6 Louisville inside in a 63-52 road victory.

•SMILING IRISH: No 12 Notre Dame (17-2, 5-1 ACC) overcame a 12-point deficit in the second half to beat visiting Miami 75-70. Jerian Grant's three-pointer broke a tie with 6:19 left, and he made a layup and blocked a shot in the last minute.

•CAVS STILL PERFECT: Malcolm Brogdon scored 20 points, and No. 2 Virginia (17-0, 5-0 ACC) scored a 66-51 victory over host Boston College.

•HOME ESCAPE: Kansas State (11-7, 4-1 Big 12) won 63-61 at home over No. 22 Baylor when Kenny Chery missed a layup at the buzzer.

•THE COWBOY WAY: Larry Nance Jr. hit the basket that gave No. 25 Wyoming (16-3, 5-1 Mountain West) the lead for good in the third overtime period in the Cowboys' 70-65 victory at Fresno State.
