The 5th Street detour between 3rd and 6th Avenues N. in downtown Minneapolis will be lifted Friday ahead of Saturday's celebration to mark the completion of enhancements made at Target Field Station.

There will be lots of pomp and circumstance to mark the opening of the state's largest commuter hub which will serve current and future light-rail lines, the Northstar Commuter line, Metro Transit buses and bicycle commuters.

The space at 5th Street and 5th Avenue N. across from the Ford Center is more than just a transit center. It's also got an amphitheater, a large video screen and eventually it will have shops and restaurants.

Built at a cost of $80 million by Hennepin County, the Minnesota Twins and several other partners, the transit center formerly known as the Interchange project is also meant to be a gateway to the North Loop Neighborhood.

Here is the schedule for Saturday's festivities ahead of the Twins-Seattle Mariners game at 6:10 p.m. at t Target Field.

Music by Choo Choo Bob, 1 to 1:45 p.m.

Music by Alex Rossi and the Root City Band, 2 to 2:45 p.m.

Ribbon cutting, speakers and special presentation, 3 to 4 p.m.

Music by the Gear Daddies, 4:15 to 5:15 p.m.

Twins vs. Mariners game on a large video board at Target Field Station, 6:10 p.m.

Throughout the day, Nice Ride Minnesota will give demonstrations of its bike sharing program will be offered from 1 to 6:15 p.m. There also will be exhibits and games with a transportation and transit theme to take in.
