TOWN OF CLAYTON, Wis. — Sheriff's officials in Winnebago County say the remains of two people have been found after firefighters extinguished a house fire in the Town of Clayton.

Authorities say they are no longer actively looking for a man who lived in the home as a person of interest in their investigation.

WLUK-TV reports there were reports of gunshots, but officials say it's unclear whether any shots were fired or if the noises were the result of the fire.

First responders went to the house about 7 a.m. Tuesday, believing there were two possible victims in the fire. They found the remains of one person and later said the remains of a second person had been discovered at the fire scene.
