Poolside from holiday, as they say in Britain, quick check-in. Couple minor-league signings for you:

-- From the Wild press release Thursday: Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed forward Jean-Michel Daoust (DOWST) to a one-year contract.
"Jean-Michel had a great season to lead Houston in scoring and showcased his skill on a consistent basis," said Assistant to the General Manager Jim Mill, who also serves as the Aeros General Manager. "He has earned this opportunity."
Daoust, 26 (11/24/83), led Houston with 55 points (21-34=55) in 78 games during his first season with the Aeros and third season in the American Hockey League. Daoust, a native of Valleyfield, Quebec, signed as an AHL free agent with Houston prior to last season. He previously spent two seasons with the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, including a 28-point performance (10-18=28) in 58 games with the Penguins in 2008-09. Daoust has captured multiple league titles during his career including the Kelly Cup (ECHL) with Cincinnati and Quebec Major Junior Hockey League titles with both Hull and Gatineau.

-- The Wild is also close to signing Eden Prairie's Chad Rau -- aka Colton Gillies' roommate down in Houston this past season. Rau, 23, who was also on an AHL deal, will sign an NHL deal. He was third on the Aeros with 19 goals and fourth with 38 points. The former Colorado College standout was a 2005 seventh-round pick by the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Here's a feature on the Rau family that appeared in the Star Tribune last March. Chad's brothers, Kyle and Curt, will be seniors at Eden Prairie. According to the stats on startribune.com, Kurt led Eden Prairie with 39 goals and 75 points last year and Curt had 12 points in eight games.

-- Lastly, agent Allan Walsh put out on Twitter yesterday that the situation with Stephane Veilleux is resolved and the Tampa Bay Lightning will pay his medical claims for this past Wednesday's shoulder surgery.

-- How about the Flyers? Comeback for the ages -- both in the series and Game 7.
