The Minnesota Air National Guard announced Wednesday that it will deploy approximately 350 members of its 133rd Airlift Wing to support operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Deployments will range from two to six months and include air-drop and land delivery of supplies, equipment and personnel using the wing's C-130 cargo planes.
For many of the wing's personnel, this is the third, fourth or even fifth deployment. Since 9/11, the 133rd Airlift Wing has deployed more than 4,500 airmen to locations around the world. On May 1, the wing launched the first cargo airplane from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport headed to Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan. Additional aircraft will be launched in the coming weeks.
