Wild enforcer Derek Boogaard will likely be suspended after his knee-on-knee hit on Edmonton's Ryan Jones last night. Boogaard stuck his knee out and Jones sustained at least a sprained knee. He's having an MRI today.

Boogaard had a conference call with league executive Mike Murphy this morning, which usually indicates supplementary discipline is on the horizon.

"It wasn't like it was an intent to injure or anything like that. I was just finishing my hit. It's not like I'm going out to hurt guys," Boogaard said this morning.

Boogaard was suspended five games last season for elbowing Calgary's Brandon Prust.

I have a 2:15 p.m. MT flight back to Minnesota. If a decision is made before that, I'll let you know. Otherwise, I'll update the blog upon arrival in Minnesota.

The Wild practiced here in Edmonton this morning. Quick practice, basically to get the legs going. The last time Todd Richards chose not to practice after a long flight with a game the next day, it was that horrible New Year's Eve loss to LA. You can bet that stuck in his head, which is why he at least got them on the ice for a few minutes this morning.

Jacques Lemaire and Mario Tremblay and Brian Rolston and Martin Skoula and the rest of the Devils were staying in the Wild's hotel. That meant Mike Ramsey was able to reunite with his old comrades over coffee, and a number of players chatted with Lemaire this morning.

Talk to you later
