Turmoil in the Vikings' locker room.

I have uncovered the dark secret hushed by Minnesota Vikings management. The team's star defensive player, an All-Pro Defensive Lineman, has been quoted in Sports Illustrated as being unhappy with our new star quarterback. I think the quote is...

"I really don't think much of the acquisition," said the defensive tackle rated the most valuable player. "He is a good quarterback, but I don't think anybody's that good."

or maybe the exact quote was...

"I really don't think much of the trade," said Alan Page, the defensive tackle rated the most valuable player in the NFC in 1971. "Tarkenton is a good quarterback, but I don't think anybody's that good."

It was one of them.

The Vikings gave up a first round and second round pick, along with valued players such as wide receiver Bob Grim, and veteran quarterback Norm Snead. While most were excited to add Fran back to the offense, others were convinced the Vikes were better off without the veteran. After all, it was Joe Kapp who had led us to our first Super Bowl after Tarkenton left.

Fran Tarkenton was recently quoted as speaking out against the coming of Brett Favre to Minnesota. Now I know that the circumstances are not the same. But there are some similarities.

At minimum enough resemblance to warrant the 'Rambling Wreck from Georgia' shut his mouth.
