It's peak produce season in Minnesota (and the bacon's not bad, either), which is why markets are wisely concentrating on shopping and keeping events to a minimum. Still, be sure to check out these two on Saturday:

At the Minneapolis Farmers Market, Tammy Wong, chef/owner of Rainbow Chinese Restaurant, will demonstrate using Minnesota-grown melons in summer meals. Check out some of Wong's recipes here. 10:30 a.m.

At the Mill City Farmers Market, food historian Rae Katherine Eighmey (author of "Potluck Paradise" and the upcoming "Food Will Win the War: Minnesota Crops, Cooks, and Conservation During World War I," published by the Minnesota Historical Society, will be sampling a typical 1920's railroad breakfast: grilled lamb chops, potatoes and  maple sugar biscuits. 10 a.m.
