As Minnesota's never-ending Senate race grinds on, one Washington advocacy group is trying to have some fun with it.

The National Wildlife Federation is conducting an online "Seat the Senator" game, asking players to guess the date that either Democrat Al Franken or Republican Norm Coleman will finally become the state's second senator.

Players are asked to submit a date as far in the future as Dec. 31, 2015 (and are also asked to provide the federation with personal contact information that will be added to its mailing list).

According to the federation, the winner will get an official Congressional Director, autographed by whoever is ultimately seated. Sue Brown, executive director of the federation's political arm said the group hasn't cleared the contest with either campaign, "but I'm sure they'll be happy to help out. Whoever wins will be pleased to be the new senator and we think they'll be pleased to give us an autograph."

Brown said the contest was cooked up late last week by a staffer from Minnesota "and we figured it would be a fun way to engage political junkies."

She took the first stab at guessing a date and chose the end of this week. "You could say I'm an optimist," she said.
