Stray gunfire from a Minnesota deer hunter plunked a window on a Stearns County couple's home on Saturday as the husband was on the roof stringing Christmas lights, the Stearns County Sheriff's Office said.

Neither David W. Weis, 48, of South Haven, nor his wife, Theresa, 42, was injured, and the hunter was let off with a warning about the unintentional incident.

According to the Sheriff's Office:

Brent Lang, 39, of Redwood Falls, was hunting with Curtis F. Olson, 62, of Ham Lake, shortly before noon. Lang, in a hollow, fired his 12-gauge shotgun once at a doe running along the crest of a hill.

The slug missed its intended target and traveled three-fourths of a mile before it grazed a window on the southwest side of the Weis home.

Lang is on the hook for paying for a new window.
