MADISON, Wis. — A Wisconsin historical site's vintage base ball team is getting set to close out its season next month.

Old World Wisconsin's Eagle Diamonds will face the Chicago Salmon at Wade House, a historic 1860s stagecoach inn located in Greenbush, on Sept. 13. The game will mark the end of the Diamonds' four-game season.

The Diamonds play by 1860s rules base ball, the precursor to modern baseball. The players don't use gloves and dress in wool uniforms. The terminology is far different as well. Players are called ballists, batters are known as strikers and pitchers are hurlers, the outfield is known as the outer garden, fly balls are cloud hunters and grounders are bug bruisers.

Old World Wisconsin is located just outside Eagle in southeastern Wisconsin.
