Four people are in custody in connection with two men being repeatedly stabbed and critically wounded after leaving a bar in Fridley over the weekend with two women.
The victims, both 21, were at Two Stooges Sports Bar & Grill when two women asked them for a ride about 2 a.m. Saturday, according to Cmdr. Paul Sommer of the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office.
The victims — Anthony M. McCollum of Hilltop and Yani R. Singh of Columbia Heights — agreed to give the women a ride to an apartment complex not far away, near University Avenue NE. and NE. Mississippi Street, he said.
It’s unclear where the four were for more than two hours between bar closing and arriving in that area, Sommer said.
At 4:20 a.m., McCollum called police from near 77th Avenue NE. and Main Street, saying he and his friend had just been attacked by two strangers and that they managed to flee.
The suspects arrested by Fridley police are two 22-year-old women, one from Minneapolis and the other from St. Paul; a 25-year-old man from Spring Lake Park, and an 18-year-old man with no permanent address. They have yet to be charged.
Sommer added that Singh has regained consciousness and McCollum’s status “has not changed” since Saturday.
