One of three motorcyclists out on an early evening ride in Rochester "lost consciousness" and fatally crashed, authorities said.

The wreck occurred shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday on southbound Hwy. 52 at 55th Street NW., according to the State Patrol.

Killed was Laurie A. Snyder, 58, of Rochester, the patrol said. Snyder was wearing a helmet, and there was no evidence that alcohol played a role in the crash.

Snyder "lost consciousness and control of the bike" as she rode with two others, the patrol said in a statement. Authorities have yet to provide additional details of events leading up to the crash.

"We do not have any additional information available regarding why it appeared she lost consciousness," said Patrol Lt. Eric Roeske. "The medical examiner will determine if she died from injuries suffered in the crash or due to some other factor."
