GUILFORD, Vt. — A Vermont man is accused of shooting another man after a confrontation over the weekend.

Nicolas Baker of Guilford is accused of aggravated assault and obstruction of justice after he allegedly shot Edward Carter at Baker's home on Saturday. Police said the 39-year-old Carter, of Wisconsin, suffered a gunshot wound to his abdomen and was in critical condition.

Police said the two men knew each other.

The 25-year-old Baker was scheduled to be arraigned Monday. It wasn't immediately known if he had a lawyer.
