FOX POINT, Wis. — Police in a Milwaukee County suburb say the victim in a fatal strip mall shooting was an armed robber.

Investigators say they've questioned at least two "people of interest" in the case, but have made no arrests. Fox Point police are leading the investigation into Thursday's shooting at Innovative Optique.

Police said the gunfire occurred during an attempted robbery. They say 22-year-old Joshua Drake of Milwaukee tried to rob the store about noon, and an armed employee shot and killed him. The employee wasn't hurt.

Investigators entered the store Thursday night after waiting at least six hours to get a search warrant.

Innovative Optique in the Audubon Center strip mall has been a target of thieves in the past. Last September a thief stole a $2,000 pair of sunglasses.
