After a morning filled with meetings and film review, Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve canceled media access Thursday before her team headed to the airport to fly to San Antonio for Friday night's game.
No reason was given for the decision.
The Lynx are coming off two consecutive losses — at Phoenix and at home vs. Los Angeles — in which they were in position to win before fading down the stretch. After the Sparks scored the final nine points in Tuesday's victory at Target Center — the 71-63 loss marked Minnesota's lowest point total in a home game since 2011 — several Lynx players vowed to do whatever was necessary to get the team back on track. Thursday, in addition to film review, the captains held a team meeting.
Both ends of the floor need work. Thursday the Lynx managed only 27 second-half points, scoring 12 in the fourth quarter. The Sparks, meanwhile, shot 50 percent the final three quarters and nearly 60 percent in the fourth.
The game marked the first time since the 2010 season that the Lynx had only player score in double figures, Maya Moore with 20. The team's second-leading scorer, Seimone Augustus, was limited to eight points — her lowest total in eight games since returning from left knee bursitis.
The Lynx finish the regular season with a home game vs. Tulsa on Saturday. Minnesota (24-8) still needs one more victory to become the first WNBA team with four 25-win seasons in a row.
