Passengers who board Minnesota Valley Transit Authority buses at the Eagan Transit Station may be wondering when the restrooms will reopen.

"Hopefully soon," said spokeswoman Robin Selvig.

The restrooms have been locked for a couple of weeks due to vandalism and property damage inside the station at Pilot Knob Road and Yankee Doodle Road. Selvig said somebody had been putting rocks down the toilet, which led to plumbing problems, and that a homeless person may have been using them for shelter.

"We believe the best way to proceed is to lock the restrooms," Selvig said in a statement. "We expect this to be a temporary measure and are comfortable that there are other restrooms available in the retail stores adjacent to the station."

Those include a nearby Starbucks and Bruegger's.

The agency issued an apology for the inconvenience on its website.

Selvig said the station remains open and other amenities are still available to the public.

Eagan Police say they have not been called about the vandalism.
