Police: Car chase suspect dealt with depression

GOODMAN, Wis. — Authorities say a Green Bay man had been dealing with depression before he shot at a random car and at sheriff's deputies on a Marinette County highway.

The Marinette County sheriff's office identifies the suspect as 43-year-old Robb DeGroot. An autopsy confirms DeGroot killed himself with a single gunshot wound to the head after leading authorities on a chase Thursday.

Sheriff's officials say a couple in a car told investigators a man in an SUV began shooting at them on Highway 141 near Wausaukee (wah-SAW'-kee) and struck their vehicle.

Deputies spotted the SUV speeding down the wrong side of the highway and gave chase. WJFW-TV reports ( ) the pursuit continued west on Highway 8 where the suspect fired at the squads.

Officers eventually found DeGroot lying outside his SUV.
