What: In one of Minneapolis' most eclectic neighborhoods, a one-day block party that coolly melds raw blues, punk and rootsy music alongside craft beer.

RiverSong Festival

What: Nonprofit, two-day folk and roots music fest in a scenic riverfront setting with camping.

Where: Masonic/West River Park in Hutchinson (60 miles west of Minneapolis).

Who's playing: Wisconsin Americana rockers Cory Chisel & the Wandering Souls of "Born Again" notoriety, acclaimed Texas tunesmith Slaid Cleaves, Cuban son dance band Malamanya, Hobo Nephews of Uncle Frank, Ellis, Sena Ehrhardt, Choo Choo Bob and more.

Lakefront Music Fest

What: A split-personality beer-chugathon in a grassy park with one day of VH1-brand '90s rock and another of country.

Where: Lakefront Park in Prior Lake (25 miles southwest of Minneapolis).

Who: Friday's lineup features one- to two-hit rock wonders Blues Traveler ("Runaround"), Smash Mouth ("All-Star") and Uncle Kracker ("Follow Me") and Sugar Ray ("Fly"). "Celebrity Apprentice" dominator Trace Adkins tops out Saturday's country bill with Maggie Rose and more.

Log Jam

What: The successor to the troubled Lumberjack Days on the St. Croix riverfront, minus the dinosaur-rock and plus a rich variety of regional music flavor.

Where: Lowell Park in downtown Stillwater (20 miles east of St. Paul).

Who: Sonny Knight & the Lakers and Galactic Cowboy Orchestra on Friday; Iowa folk/blues songwriting hero Greg Brown and vintage Twin Cities country favorites the Cactus Blossoms on Saturday, and Grammy-winning kids-music pickers the Okee Dokee Brothers on Sunday.

Moondance Jam

What: Like the classic-rock answer to country music's We Fest, this giant Up North camping rockathon is in its 23rd year.

Where: Moondance Ranch near Walker (185 miles north of Minneapolis).

Who: It's a trifecta of soft-rock stars this year with Styx and Foreigner on Friday and REO Speedwagon on Saturday, plus GeorgeThorogood, the Wallflowers, Don Felder and more.

Cadott Rock Fest

What: Another big rock 'n' roll camp-out across the border in Wisconsin farm country.

Where: Cadott Festival Grounds in Cadott, Wis. (near Chippewa Falls, 100 miles east of St. Paul).

Who: 1970s rock giants Aerosmith and Cheap Trick on Saturday, with metallic mainstays Five Finger Death Punch on Friday and Rob Zombie with Stone Sour on Sunday.
