Boyhood (R) The life of a boy (Ellar Coltrane), ages 5 to 18. Director Richard Linklater shot the film, which also stars Ethan Hawke and Patricia Arquette, in real time over a dozen years.

Hellion (not rated) An emotionally absent father (Aaron Paul) must take responsibility for his son’s delinquent behavior.

Le Chef (PG-13) A veteran chef fights off a younger competitor who specializes in molecular gastronomy.

Planes: Fire & Rescue (PG) When air racer Dusty learns he may never race again, he shifts gears into the world of aerial firefighting.

The Purge: Anarchy (R) A young couple struggle to survive after their car breaks down right as the annual purge commences.

Sex Tape (R) A couple (Jason Segel and Cameron Diaz) discover the sex tape they made the night before is missing.

Venus in Fur (not rated) An actress attempts to persuade a director she’s perfect for a role in his upcoming production. Directed by Roman Polanski.

Wish I Was Here (R) A man (Zach Braff, who also directed) examines his life, career and family.
