A Twin Cities area man trying to swim to a raft drowned in a western Wisconsin lake over the weekend, authorities said Monday.
The body of Deangelo L. Williams, 24, of Hopkins, was found by emergency responders late Sunday morning about 30 yards from a dock on the north side of Balsam Lake, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said.
According to the Sheriff's Office:
Williams and a female were swimming to a raft. The female made it, but she noticed that Williams had disappeared.
Several emergency agencies responded, and Williams' body was recovered about 75 minutes later in roughly 10 feet of water.
