Alex Tuch

Round: 1 Overall: 18

Position: RW

Height/weight: 6-4, 215

Hometown: Baldwinsville, N.Y.

2013-14 team: USA Under-18 Development team

Stats: 61 games, 29 goals, 64 points.

Assistant GM Brent Flahr’s comment: “He’s a big power forward. They’re hard to come by. He’s got a good set of hands. He’s got an NHL shot.”

Louis Belpedio

Round: 3 Overall: 80

Position: D

Height/weight: 5-10, 193

Hometown: Skokie, Ill.

2013-14 team: USA Under-18 Development team

Stats: 53 games, seven goals, 20 points.

Flahr’s comment: Captain of the Under-18 team, character kid, quality two-way defenseman, smart player, plays solid two-way game. A little short in stature, but he’s well put together and physically strong.

Kaapo Kahkonen

Round: 4 Overall: 109

Position: G

Height/weight: 6-2, 198

Hometown: Espoo, Finland

2013-14 team: Blues Jr.

Stats: 38 games, .912 save percentage

Flahr’s comment: Wild very high on him all year, but a tough Under-18 tournament hurt his stock. Competitive, athletic butterfly goalie. Might play pro next year in Europe.

Tanner Faith

Round: 5 Overall: 139

Position: D

Height/weight: 6-3, 211

Hometown: Terrace, B.C.

2013-14 team: Kootenay (WHL)

Stats: 10 games, zero goals, 1 assist.

Flahr’s comment: Suffered season-ending shoulder injury after 10 games. Wild believes he would have been a much higher pick if he had played. Big, right-shot defenseman whose coaches rave about him. “Our scouts out west are happy.”

Pontus Sjalin

Round: 6 Overall: 160

Position: D

Height/weight: 6-0, 161

Hometown: Ostersund, Sweden

2013-14 team: Ostersund

Stats: 21 goals, 3 goals, 4 points

Flahr’s comment: His Division III league in a small town doesn’t get a lot of exposure, so the Wild hopes it turned up a diamond in the rough. Very mobile, must get stronger, intelligent. “We knew one other team knew about him, so we made sure that round we drafted him ahead of them.”

Chase Lang

Round: 6 Overall: 167

Position: RW

Height/weight: 6-1, 182

Hometown: Nanaimo, B.C.

2013-14 Team: Calgary Hitmen (WHL)

Stats: 68 games, 10 goals, 25 points.

Flahr’s comment: Smart, two-way, competitive player. “They’re a deep Calgary team, so as he gets stronger and more mature, he’s going to have a big role.”

Reid Duke

Round: 6 Overall: 169

Position: C

Height/weight: 6-0, 189

Hometown: Calgary, Alberta

2013-14 team: Lethbridge (WHL)

Stats: 62 games, 15 goals, 40 points

Flahr’s comment: Rated much higher, but he played on a struggling team. “We think he has the skill and talent level to be a much higher pick.”

Pavel Jenys

Round: 7 Overall: 199

Position: C

Height/weight: 6-2, 189

Hometown: Brno, Czech Republic

2013-14 team: Brno Jr.

Stats: 26 games, 13, goals, 19 points

Flahr’s comment: He’s expected to be drafted in the Canadian Hockey League next year. “Offensive upside. He’s got a 6-2 ½ frame, so he’s going to grow into his body.”
