Play ball: Twins-White Sox underway after 2-hour rain delay

Well it looks like the Twins are ready to settle in and wait out the rain. I've heard a 8:30 start. I've heard 9. Either way, it's going to be a while. And a long day at the park.
I will add one more note: The Twins finally acknowledged that Miguel Sano is on track to DH some games in August. Assistant General Manager Rob Antony said Sano will have a checkup on July 7, where the hope is that he will be cleared to start throwing. Then, if all goes well, he can play in some games in August.
Back to regular programming.....
Eduardo Nunez has been placed on the 15-day disables list with a strained right hamstring. That makes room for Yohan Pino to be placed on the roster in time to start tonight's game. Mike Pelfrey was moved to the 60-day DL to make room on the 40-man for Pino. Pelfrey is out indefinitely following surgery to relieve pressure on his ulnar nerve. Pelfrey could be done for the year.
One Pino note: In his seven starts for Class AAA Rochester, Pino has retired all 21 batters he's faced. Seven 1-2-3 first innings.
Glen Perkins played catch in the outfield this afternoon and Twins manager Ron Gardenhire expected him to be available tonight.
The Twins gave Eduardo Nunez a few days to get healthy but had to place him on the disabled list with a strained right hamstring. Nunez told me he can play, just not 100 percent. But he has had several conversations with Gardy in recent days and arrived at the conclusion that he shouldn't push it. I didn't hear it clearly because of the language barrier, but Nunez said something to the affect that Gardy pulled his hamstring enough times as a player to understand the importance of making sure it's 100 percent.
Oswaldo Arcia is on the bench for a second straight day, and Gardy hoped that it will fire up Arcia a little bit. Gardy said Arcia took early batting practice on Thursday. ``He shortened up his swing a little bit and was hitting the ball a country mile,'' Gardy said.
Gardy is expecting rain about gametime. Paul Douglas expects storms to move through the area around 5 p.m. Either way, we're getting rain, we just don't know how much and for how long
The manager had a towel around his neck before the game, as he's under the weather. ``Nothing that a win can't cure,'' he said.
