Details: A vacant "pad site" in Ryan Cos.' Savage Crossings retail center is in line for a new Wings Financial Credit Union building under plans approved this month by the city of Savage's planning commission.

Apple Valley-based Wings Financial will locate a 3,950-square-foot credit union on a 0.81-acre site just to the south of the shopping center's anchor — a SuperTarget store — and next to an existing Applebee's restaurant.

Savage Crossings, which opened in 2003, also includes such tenants as Office Max, Perkins Restaurant, Caribou Coffee and Buffalo Wild Wings.

Plans for the new credit union building include four drive-through lanes and 20 parking stalls. Its architecture is the prototypical Wings Financial design, which features a high curved-metal roof element meant to evoke the feeling of an aircraft hangar. Other architectural elements include vertical brick piers and large spans of glass.

The credit union's landscaping plan features a bio-filtration area along the south property line.
