Softball

• BLOOMINGTON JEFFERSON 2, LAKEVILLE NORTH 0: For the second time in a week, Bloomington Jefferson stunned top-ranked Lakeville North, this time in the section final Friday in Richfield. The Jaguars handed the Panthers their first loss of the season just three days earlier in the section quarterfinals.

In the bottom of the fifth inning with the game scoreless, Jefferson's Kate Deming put down a bunt with two strikes and two outs to score Claire Woebke from third base.

A half-inning before, Demming made a diving catch in left-center field to record the second out of the inning, holding a runner at first and halting a scoring opportunity for Lakeville North.

Senior pitcher Krista Flugstad gave up five hits and no runs. She pitched every inning section games for the Jaguars, not allowing a run.

Flugstad has pitched 41 straight scoreless innings.

Baseball

• CHAMPLIN PARK 3, COON RAPIDS 1: Trevor Kiminski struck out 11 batters and gave up just three hits and two walks to lead the Rebels over the Cardinals in the third round of the losers' bracket at Midway Stadium. Teammate Aaron Kloeppner earned the save after recording the final out with the bases loaded.

PI Softball

• Robbinsdale/Hopkins/Mound Westonka will look to win its sixth consecutive state championship Saturday after cruising past South Suburban 9-0 in the first round of the PI Division softball state championship at Coon Rapids. Chaun Johnson, Casey Balint, Cory Tesch, and Tyler Sarff all scored twice for the Robins.

CI SOFTBALL

• No. 4 seed Dakota United upset the top seed in the North Division, Anoka-Hennepin, 17-9 to advance to the quarterfinals of the CI Division softball state championship at Coon Rapids. It was the first loss of the season for the Mustangs.

Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville scored nine runs in the final two innings to force extra innings, but the defending champions couldn't hang on against Osseo, losing 22-17. Junior Aaron Clark scored four runs for the Orioles.
