On this Memorial Day, I hope that Americans honor both the memory and the mission of those who defended our nation.

Reasonable people can disagree with how our leaders pursued U.S. military missions in the past, but no reasonable person can fault our soldiers for their opposition to fascism, dictatorships, communism, terrorism and the lack of basic human rights.

Our veterans stood for the right principles. Our leaders should do the same thing when constructing our foreign policy.
