A Southern California man has been arrested in connection with the killing of a 32-year-old Minnesota woman, whose dismembered remains were scattered in plastic bags along railroad tracks.

Police in Riverside, Calif., said 28-year-old Christopher Marcus Brown was arrested Tuesday on an unrelated felony arrest warrant. Brown lives near where Jamie Lea Harmer's body was found on April 27, according to a Riverside newspaper.

Police said investigators searched his apartment for 18 hours and found evidence related to the crime.

Harmer was born in Fridley, but raised in Buffalo, Minn., and attended schools in Delano, Thief River Falls and Grygla, according to a memorial posted by the Johnson-Green Funeral Service in Thief River Falls. She moved to California last October and had been in Riverside only since early March, the memorial said.

At the time of her death, news reports described Harmer as a transient. Police say she was arrested twice in San Diego County, on suspicion of battery on a police officer and being under the influence of drugs, according to the Associated Press.

After earning her GED in Minneapolis, Harmer returned to Thief River Falls in 2010, working at the Northern Pride turkey processing plant while also studying massage therapy at Northland Community and Technical, the funeral home website said.

"Jamie enjoyed making jewelry and crocheting. She also enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and four-wheeling," the site said. "She had many talents including singing and drawing."
