PIONEERS AND SOLDIERS MEMORIAL CEMETERY: 2945 Cedar Av. S., Minneapolis, 9:40 a.m. The Seward Concert Band will perform in the Minneapolis Pioneers and Soldiers Memorial Cemetery.
MINNESOTA VIETNAM VETERAN’S MEMORIAL: State Capitol Grounds, John Ireland Blvd., St. Paul, 9:30 a.m. Veterans For Peace gathering remembering the casualties of war. Speaker, read names of Minnesota’s fallen, song and poetry. More information: 651-757-8012 or 612-821-9141.
LAKEWOOD CEMETERY: Hennepin Av. And 36th St., Minneapolis. 10:30 a.m. near the Soldiers Memorial monument. This year’s ceremony will honor the 100th anniversary of World War I. It will include a Gospel quartet led by Robert Robinson, keynote address by Douglas P. Bekke, curator of the Minnesota Military Museum and World War I historian and the Minneapolis Police Band.
HONORING ALL VETERANS MEMORIAL: 6429 Portland Av. S., Minneapolis, 2 p.m. The featured speaker will be Walter Holm, WWII merchant marine veteran, who served in both the Pacific and Atlantic theaters. The 34th Infantry Division “Red Bull” Band also will perform. Fifty-six new veterans’ names added to the monument will be unveiled, making a total of 799 veteran engravings. ROCKFORD PARADE/SERVICES: Rockford Middle School, 6051 Ash St., 10 a.m. The parade runs from the Rockford Middle School with Navy services at the Crow River and Memorial services at Elmwood Cemetery with Pastor Rick Newswanger from United Presbyterian Church of Rockford and the Wright County Sheriff’s Department Colors and Rifle Squad. In case of rain, services will be held in the Rockford High School/Community Center. The Rockford Lions will serve a pork chop dinner starting at 11 a.m. in the Riverside Park-Lions Building. A pie and ice cream social will be held at the Ames-Florida-Stork House, 8131 Bridge St., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All area residents are invited to march in the parade.
