With Minnesota candidate filing starting on Tuesday, hopefuls for U.S. Senate, governor and other offices across the state will plunk down some cash and sign their names on the bottom line.

In the early morning hours, eager candidates -- at least one of whom camped out to guarantee a spot as first -- declared their desire to run. The filing period stays open through June 3. See the list of candidates here.

But some well-known names will not be on the list.

With tears and laughs, 14 Minnesota House members -- 10 Republicans and four Democrats -- said in the legislative session's final hours that they would run no more.
