Rainstorms are drenching the Twin Cities, leaving some city streets underwater Monday and bringing hail along for good measure.

Standing water was challenging motorists on Dean Parkway near Lake Street on the west side of Minneapolis, and pea-sized hail was reported in St. Paul, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Up to 2 inches of rain has fallen in the metro as of 2:30 p.m., the NWS added, leading to standing water and rising streams.

Dime-sized hail was falling in Richfield, the weather service added.

As of 2 p.m., the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport reported 1.79 inches of rain.

Earlier Monday and well to the west, a severe thunderstorm along the Kandiyhohi and Swift County border dropped quarter-sized hail and was fueld by winds reaching 60 miles per hour, the NWS reported.
