Fatal shooting reported at sheriff's employee home

PLOVER, Wis. — Authorities on Saturday were investigating a fatal shooting at the home of a Portage County Sheriff's Office employee in Plover, official said.

Plover Police Chief Dwayne Wierzba said in a news release that one person died but did not identify the dead person. Wierzba said the investigation was ongoing but that it was an isolated incident.

Wisconsin Department of Justice spokeswoman Dana Brueck told Stevens Point Journal Media (http://spjour.nl/1gToMrW ) the state Division of Criminal Investigation responded to the scene.

The incident was reported just after 1 a.m. Saturday. Units from the Plover Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol and Portage County Coroner's Office went to the scene in central Wisconsin, and roads around the home were blocked off.

The Plover Police Department confirms that the DCI has taken over the investigation.
