Over the next few months, Minnesotans will have numerous opportunities to ask candidates running for office direct questions. Some candidates will be more accessible than others. It may vary depending on the race, but most Minnesotans will likely have an opportunity to ask a candidate running for office a question.

But how would you react if you asked a candidate a question and they didn't know the answer? Is there an expectation that candidates know all? Is it reasonable for candidates to say, "I don't know", in response to a question?

I believe most voters expect a candidate running for office to have a general understanding of the responsibilities and functions of the office they are seeking. But what about everything else?

I'll be reviewing the comments on this post and working on a follow-up based on responses.
