The Minnesota Supreme Court has suspended two lawyers in the past week for professional misconduct.

William H. Davis Jr., of Minneapolis, was suspended for a minimum of four months for making false statements to a court and failing to pay a law-related judgment. The suspension was requested by the state Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility, stemming from the conditions related to two drunken driving convictions since 2007. He had been previously suspended because of the convictions but was reinstated on unsupervised probation.

Also suspended this week was Grant Shaft of Grand Forks, N.D. The professional responsibility office requested a reciprocal discipline of a 30-day suspension he received in North Dakota. There, he directed payments to himself instead of his law firm.

He admitted to the allegations.
