Three fatal motor vehicle accidents were reported by the Minnesota State Patrol Saturday, including a rollover accident in Pine County that resulted in the death of a 24-year-old driver who had fallen asleep behind the wheel.

Cole Hegge of Hinckley died after the rollover accident that occurred shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday on westbound Highway 18, three miles west of Finlayson. Hegge's 2000 Ford Focus veered off the right shoulder, hit trees and rolled over, throwing Hegge from the vehicle, according to the State Patrol report.

In a two-car accident earlier in the day, 81-year-old Wilma Johnson of Little Falls died when she pulled her 2000 Mercury Sable onto Highway 25 in Morrison County and was broadsided by an oncoming pickup truck, according to State Patrol reports. A passenger in Johnson's car suffered injuries believed to be noncritical. Two passengers, ages 5 and 1, in the Chevy K1500 driven by 25-year-old Jerry Schlag of Hillman, Minn., were taken to a Little Falls hospital for treatment of injuries also believed to be noncritical.

Identities have not been disclosed in the third fatal accident, which occurred around 2 p.m. and involved three pickup trucks on Highway 64 in Cass County, according to State Patrol reports. The passenger in a 2011 Chevy Silverado died after a southbound vehicle crossed the center line of the highway, glanced off a second vehicle, and then collided with the truck head-on. The two drivers involved in the head-on collision were both hospitalized in serious condition, according to the State Patrol.
