Game 2 preview: Wild at Colorado

Preview: The Wild coughed up a 4-2 third-period lead to lose Game 1 in overtime, 5-4, on Thursday. Avalanche center Paul Stastny became the first player in NHL playoff history to score the tying goal with less than 15 seconds left (13.4) and score the overtime winner. The Wild is 1-6 all-time in Game 1s. The Wild is 2-3 in Game 2 after the five previous Game 1 losses.
Players to watch: Avs C Nathan MacKinnon (18 years, 228 days) became the second-youngest player in NHL history to post three points (all assists) in his playoff debut (Pierre Turgeon, 1988). Freewheeling D Tyson Barrie had two assists and was plus-3 in Thursday’s game. LW Ryan O’Reilly was an absolute force Thursday. He scored a goal, assisted on another, was plus-3 and had three shots. Wild G Ilya Bryzgalov has allowed 13 goals in his past three starts. F’s Charlie Coyle, Erik Haula and Kyle Brodziak scored their first career playoff goals Thursday.
Numbers: Ten of the 14 all-time playoff games between the Avalanche and Wild have been decided by one goal, including six in overtime (the Wild is 4-2 in those contests). Nine of the past 10 regular-season and playoff meetings have been decided by one goal.
Injuries: Wild D Keith Ballard (groin) and G Darcy Kuemper (undisclosed) are questionable. G Josh Harding (multiple sclerosis), G Niklas Backstrom (abdominal surgery), LW Mike Rupp (suspended) and LW Jason Zucker (quadriceps) are out. Avalanche C Matt Duchene (knee), C John Mitchell (concussion) and LW Alex Tanguay (hip) are out.
