SHAPIRO & SMITH DANCE
Opening Thursday: Shapiro & Smith Dance delves into the current obsession with the "selfie" in the premiere of "Narcissus." The work, created by artistic director Joanie Smith, upends how we see ourselves and how others might see us. It's set to commissioned music by Soozie Tyrell of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band and New York composer Scott Killian. The program also includes "Jack," which investigates the origins of nursery rhymes with text by Brian Sostek, and "What Dark/Falling Into Light" (1996), choreographed by Smith and the late Danial Shapiro. (8 p.m. Thu.-Sat., $27-$31, The Cowles Center, 528 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls. 612-206-3600, www.thecowlescenter.org.)
