A two-vehicle crash that blocked the left shoulder and left debris in the left lane of eastbound 94 at Elm Creek Pkwy. in Maple Grove led to a big back up in the early portions the morning rush. It impacted traffic between Rogers and the Fish Lake Interchange for about 45 minutes and led to commutes of 20 minutes at the worst.

Currently traffic is zipping right along that stretch.

In the southeast metro, the hot spot was on westbound 494 where around 7:40 a.m. three vehicles collided in the right and center lanes on the Hwy. 61 overpass. That created a parking lot that stretched back several miles to Lake Road in Woodbury. That area, too, is looking fine now as traffic is back to posted speeds.

At present, traffic chugs along on most mainline routes, but look for minor congestion on northbound 35W approaching 42nd Street.

The eastbound Crosstown was crash free this morning, so maybe it was the sun that caused traffic to sputter. Things are still heavy from Gleason Road over to France Avenue, and 15 minutes over to 35W.

I didn't hear from drivers who took University Avenue today. Drop me an email, drive@startribune.com, if you used University in St. Paul where bad concrete on the light-rail line is being replaced at 11 intersections this week until mid-May.
