Two men were killed in a head-on collision Friday morning on Hwy. 12 in Orono, police said.
The vehicles slammed into each other just before 7 a.m. on eastbound Hwy. 12 between County Road 29 and County Road 6 in Hennepin County.
One man died at the scene and a second died shortly after first responders arrived, Orono police said. Police had not released identities of the men as of Friday evening.
The victims were in separate vehicles. A team was sent to reconstruct the accident, closing the highway nearly three hours in both directions.
Orono police, the Minnesota State Patrol and the Hennepin County crime lab are investigating the crash.
