NEW YORK — Organizers say they'll allow an opponent of same-sex marriage to march with a banner in New York City's annual gay pride parade.
The announcement Thursday came days after a St. Patrick's Day parade boycott over a prohibition on gay-rights signs drew widespread attention.
Gay pride parade organizer David Studinski says he has no problem with Catholic League President Bill Donohue's plan to participate in the June event.
Newsday reports (http://bit.ly/1h1rxGw ) that Studinski says Donohue's presence affirms the parade's unity theme.
The president and CEO of the gay-rights group GLAAD, Sarah Kate Ellis, agrees. She even invites Donohue to march alongside her.
On Monday, both the mayor and Guinness beer boycotted New York's St. Patrick's Day Parade because it doesn't allow participants to carry pro-gay signs.
