MOUNT CALVARY, Wis. — A student is accused of stealing money from a Fond du Lac County high school damaged by fire earlier this month.

The 15-year-old student at St. Lawrence Seminary High School is being held at a juvenile detention center, officials said. Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Capt. Rick Olig said investigators learned after the March 8 fire that an undisclosed amount of cash was missing. Olig says the boy was found with a cash amount that's consistent with what was taken.

Authorities say the cause of the fire is suspicious, according to Action Reporter Media (http://fondul.ac/1jbivho ).

"St. Lawrence students are currently on spring break," Olig said. "We will be continuing our investigation next week when they return."

The teen has not been charged with setting the fire, according to the captain.

"However, the cause of the fire is suspicious in nature and the investigation remains active and ongoing," Olig said.

Firefighters from 31 departments fought the fire at the historic Capuchin seminary high school in Mount Calvary.

The fire destroyed St. Joseph Hall, the oldest building on the campus grounds. Numerous musical instruments also were lost in the fire. The hall was used for offices and classrooms. No one was injured.
